FAMOUS ARTISTUldis Zemzaris

Uldis Zemzaris was a Latvian painter, writer, and set designer — a unique cultural figure who combined several art forms. Born in Melluži, he graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts and worked as a painter, graphic artist, stage designer, and writer.
Zemzaris was a versatile artist, equally skilled with brush, pen, and word. His paintings include landscapes, still lifes, and figurative compositions executed in a free, expressive manner. His landscapes carry a lyrical intonation and soft, harmonious palette. As a set designer, Zemzaris worked on dozens of theater productions, bringing together painterly vision with dynamic spatial logic. His theater sketches are independent works of art — expressive and precise.

Zemzaris was also a recognized writer — the author of multiple books and articles on Latvian art and culture.
