FAMOUS ARTISTAlexandrs Dembo

Alexandrs Dembo was a Latvian painter and printmaker, a representative of the postwar generation who experimented at the boundary between figurative and abstract art. He was born in Paris.
Dembo worked in various forms — oil, watercolor, pastel, graphics — showing a distinctive approach to both form and color. His compositions balance between recognizable figures and pure geometry, between rational design and emotional impulse. The influences of constructivism and suprematism are evident, but transformed through his personal perspective. His print series —l inocuts, etchings — demonstrate a masterful line and can create powerful, evocative images.

Dembo was one of the last Latvian artists of his generation to regularly participate in international exhibitions during the Soviet era.
